Worship at Tabernacle of Hope

The following explanations from scripture will help you understand our form of worship. Our worship is informal and spontaneous. It is based on the pattern of the Word of God. We believe that the people are the Church. The building is where the Church meets. We want to emphasize that you should feel the freedom in our worship services to worship Jesus the Christ in whatever way He leads you, for "our" worship services are in actuality His. We are His guests in the sanctuary.

Freedom to worship in Christ, to us, may mean any (but not necessarily be limited to) the following:

In Spirit and in Truth.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.John 4:23

Clap our hands and shout!

O clap your hands all ye people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
Psalms 47:1

Lift our hands.

Thus will I bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name.

Acts 4:24

Sing and pray, in tongues and in English.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, an I will sing with the understanding also.I Corinthians 14:14-15

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess: but be filled with the Spirit: speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.Ephesians 5:18-19

Prophesy.

The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?Amos 3:8
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification and exhortation and comfort. I Corinthians 14:1
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted. Let the prophet speak two or three, and let the other judge.
I Corinthians 14:19, 31

Speak in tongues and interpret.

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
I Corinthians 14:39
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal...to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
I Cor.12:7, 10

Anoint with oil and pray for the sick.

Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.
James 5:14-15

Our theology— a closer look

Our Beliefs— These are the creeds that define us as worshippers of the Triune God, who created all things seen and unseen, was made manifest to us in Jesus Christ, and even now directs us, sustains us, convicts and encourages us through His Holy Spirit.

Significance of the Shofar— The shofar is a powerful symbol in the worship of the Jewish people, and continues to be so at Tabernacle of Hope.

Our Mission— A scriptural basis for our common calling to bring glory to the Lord.
